The programevaluation.org website provides tools for both planning and conducting evaluation projects. A number of resources have been developed that can be used for a wide variety of educational evaluation.

Planning Tools

These program evaluation design tools are intended to assist you in planning and conducting evaluation of your professional development activities.
Professional Development Outcomes Planner

Professional Development Outcomes Survey

The Planner is designed to help educators identify targets of professional development on a hierarchy from awareness building to teacher and student outcomes.  Once targets and assessments to assess outcomes are identified, information is easily transferred to the Professional Development Outcomes Survey.  The Survey collects information directly linked to the professional development activities about implementation and student outcomes.  There is also an opportunity to get formative information from participants in order to increase effective implementation.

Data Collection

Currently, two questionnaires, one post-inservice/course and one follow-up (after opportunity for implementation of course/inservice objectives) questionnaire are available to download.  Each ‘generic’ questionnaire has a prepared Excel spreadsheet so that questionnaire data can be easily input and automatically graphed.  There is even a report template to make communication of results easier for the busy evaluator.

Curriculum Based Assessment (CBA) Materials Manuals

English Manual

Spanish Manual

Curriculum Based Assessment is perhaps the most researched formative evaluation measure for student outcomes.  Student gains in basic reading, math and writing skills are assessed on an ongoing basis.  CBA is used to identify instructional needs, pinpoint students who need academic intervention, determine instructional approaches that are effective for individual students and can provide information about the effectiveness of programs intended to improve basic academic skills.  The CBA materials Manual provides instructions, assessment materials and case studies for those who wish to conduct CBA.  There is also a manual for those who wish to assess students in bilingual programs whose instruction is in Spanish.
Classroom Behavior Report Card (CBRC) Manual Classroom Behavior Report Cards are used to rate student behaviors related to behavioral goals.  They can be used as part of a positive behavioral support program, medication evaluation and for self-monitoring.  Student data can be collected to evaluate the effectiveness of different interventions or programs.  The manual can be downloaded and includes prepared forms for easy use.
